Pandemic Response Lab Receives College Of American Pathologists Accreditation For Its Rockville, Maryland And New York City Labs

Long Island City, N.Y., May 11, 2022 — Pandemic Response Lab, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Opentrons Labworks, Inc., today announced it has received the College of American Pathologists accreditation for its New York City laboratory, notably with zero deficiencies, following a rigorous CAP inspection. The announcement comes weeks after PRL received accreditation for its Rockville, Maryland laboratory in March.

“The College of American Pathologists accreditation recognizes PRL’s fundamental framework in place for quality control and monitoring in its laboratory operations,” said PRL Laboratory Director, Samuel B. Reichberg, MD, Ph.D. “Compliance with CAP’s industry standards validates PRL’s use of stringent laboratory best practices. Accreditation complements PRL’s leading laboratory automation and world-renowned scientific expertise, strengthening our position as we expand access to rapid, low-cost clinical diagnostics.”

The College of American Pathologists is the world’s leading provider of laboratory accreditation and the advancement of quality in laboratory medicine. Its program is recognized by the U.S. federal government as equal to or more rigorous than its own inspection program, the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments. CAP inspectors review laboratory records, procedural quality control, laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety programs and records, and laboratory management to ensure the highest standards of care.

PRL’s NYC and Maryland labs are two of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.
